Expert Fraud and AML Presentation Featured at January Dinner Meeting
Members Learn Current Fraud Trends and Latest BSA/AML Considerations
ARTICLE AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY DAVID LAUWE - META4 COMMUNICATIONS
The Chapter's January Dinner Meeting featured an expert presentation entitled Fraud and AML Considerations for Community Banks presented by guest speaker Todd Brungard from Crowe LLP. The meeting was held at Il Villagio in Carlstadt, NJ on January 15, 2025. Members enjoyed a full course dinner during the presentation preceded by a cocktail reception with an open bar featuring fine wine and beer selections.

Todd compared and contrasted fraud and AML and presented real-life examples of fraud techniques used by perpetrators while providing expert guidance for community bankers to detect possible intrusions. Todd emphasized that although the cost of preventing intrusions is considerable, the cost of non-compliance far exceeds it.
